What to wear & bring

Once a booking form and deposit is received these details will be sent to you with confirmation of the booking.  Here they are in the meantime for your interest.

What to wear and bring for my Northcol Adventure or Activity

Hill & Mountain Walking

Essentials

Suitable walking trousers/leggings/jogging or tracksuit bottoms.  NOT JEANS

A base layer. NOT COTTON. Suitable synthetic or natural material designed to wick moisture away from the skin.

A mid layer, such as a fleece or a pile lined hoody/sweater

A waterproof coat (outer shell).

Waterproof over trousers.

Thicker walking socks.

Walking boots.  (Walking shoes or even trainers may be appropriate depending upon the time of year, your fitness and the intended route.  Please ask for confirmation)

Hat and gloves

Additional layers/spares dependent upon the time of year and what you need to be comfortable

A suitable rucksack of at least 20 litres capacity to contain spare clothes (ideally in a waterproof rucksack liner)

Food and drink for the day.

Emergency food

 

Optional extras – if you have it, bring it! Some of these items can be borrowed/supplied if appropriate, some are dependent upon the time of year. Please ask if you are not sure what to bring.

Camera (summit photo essential!)

This will depend upon the nature of the course you seek and its location – we will discuss on booking and a specific list will be sent to you once confirmed.

 

Archery/Parties/Team Challenges/Bushcraft

Clothing you can move freely in.

Long sleeves

A Warm layer

Waterpoof coat and trousers depending upon the time of year and prevailing weather.

Other items may be suggested subject to the venue being used.

Food and drink for the session if appropriate.

Orienteering

Running clothing – but preferably not shorts, leggings or ‘tracksters’ ideal

Trainers – preferably trail or fell models dependent upon venue

A warm layer

Waterproof coat

A change of clothes for afterwards
